The Kansas City Royals suffered a wild 8-7 loss in Friday’s series opener, as the Miami Marlins cashed at even-money at most shops. The Over (7.5) easily connected, too, snapping a 5-0 Under run in this series. Now, the Royals turn to RHP Michael Wacha to get the rebound. Wacha has a 4-9 record, 3.74 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 106 IP in 19 starts, but he has fallen off badly lately. He is 1-5 with a 5.30 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across the past 37 1/3 IP across his previous seven starts. Things have gone south in a hurry for the veteran right-hander.

For the Marlins, they hand the ball to RHP Cal Quantrill, a veteran righty who has had a tough time getting untracked this season. He is 3-8 with a 5.62 ERA and 1.44 WHIP across 81 2/3 IP across 18 starts. He has a 5.29 ERA across the past seven starts, while going 0-3, and that has actually been a slight improvement in earned run average. At home, he has just a single win in eight starts, while posting a 4.91 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. Teams are hitting .303 against Quantrill in South Florida, too. Look for a second consecutive Over result in this interleague series.
