The St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds finish a series on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals have won the first two games in the series, and the Cardinals, who were never really trying to be in the playoff hunt, are about to pass the Reds in the standings. Cincy thought they had a shot at the postseason, but they have lost 5 in a row and 8 of the last 9, and with the Blue Jays, Mets, and Padres next on the schedule, they are firmly in the “see you next year” category now. That said, The Reds are definitely in the more favorable position on Sunday afternoon, and my Cardinals vs Reds best bet is the Reds on the Money Line.

The pitching matchup is Brady Singer vs Andre Pallante. Singer has been nothing but solid for the Reds this season, turning in 3 straight quality starts and 5 of his last 6 starts. Pallante, on the other hand, should probably have been removed from the rotation by now. His August has been a total disaster, and he has given up 22 runs in his last 4 starts. The Reds hit better against lefties than righties, and while they have got to be feeling demoralized right about now, this is a must-win spot for the Redlegs. At the very least, it will keep them above .500 for the time being. This should be a lopsided pitching matchup, and surely the Reds will deliver this one win in the series.
